Cherokee County E 9-1-1

Communications Officer

Jennifer (Jen) Lasenyik is a co-founder of the Cherokee County 911 Foundation. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Sports Management. Jen started her career in Public Safety in 2022 after working in the corporate world for 30 years, the last 20 with Sprint Corporate. Even though she enjoyed the business realm, she always had the calling to volunteer and be involved in her community. When the opportunity presented itself and with the encouragement of her family, she decided to start her journey with Cherokee County 911.

Jen is a certified Communications Officer and one of 2 dedicated call takers in the 911 dispatch center. In April of 2023 Jen took over as the team lead for the Community Outreach Unit. With her leadership and the help of the incredible members of her team, Cherokee County was able to connect with thousands of members of the community. She has implemented programs for school age children, created an initiative that includes Fire Department personnel in educating nursing home staff, introduced a program for seniors called 911 What to Expect, teaches during the Citizen's academy, plus gives regular tours of the 911 center. The Community Outreach Unit is now sought after to be included in events all over Cherokee County.

The goals of the Community Outreach Team are to not only teach the community about 911 but also about our dispatchers and the important role they play in the community. They are truly the "first, first responder" 911 may seem pretty self explanatory , but many people do not realize we are here in your own back yard. The dispatchers are members of the Cherokee County community and every call that police, fire, ems and Marshals respond to is initiated by our dispatchers.

Jen's greatest accomplishments, however, are both her 23 year marriage to her husband Aaron and raising her two son's Ethan (21) and Zachary (17). Jen resides in Woodstock, GA and loves to spend time with her family and friends, curl up with a good book, go on adventures and loving on her two pups, Piper and Scout.
